2007 Michigan State Fair

Daddy, Alexis, and I went to the state fair today. We had so much fun. We saw sheep, goats, pigs, cows, ducks, bunnies, quail, turkeys (both baby and adult), and horses. We not only saw all of those animals we made sure we touched every single one. Alexis and her daddy both got to ride an elephant. It was very cool and bumpy says Alexis. Of course while at the state fair we had to have the following "snacks".... funnel cake, cotton candy and our favorite...lemonade. Lemonade is the drink that goes on forever. We drink it, then Alexis eats the lemons and daddy eats the ice. True family fun. While at the state fair we met Rover, he taught us "code red rover, grown up come over." This was a tour of rovers house where we learned about safety.

Alexis practiced milking a cow on 2 pretend cows before finally getting the chance to do it on a real one. She had a great time and was very brave.

The main reason we went to the state fair on Sunday was that our church's choir was going to perform. It was great to hear the choir, youth choir, and gospel choir perform outside of church. What a great way to share about Jesus. I think they did a good job representing Zion Christian Church.

We did not do any rides because the price was outrageous, but we still had a super time.

McLane Family Picnic

We had a great time Saturday at Chris' work. They had a family picnic with lots of food, prizes and fun. It did rain but that did not stop Alexis from playing on all the blow ups. Thank you Ralph(general manager) and McLane for a great day.

Hannah Montana sighting?

No that is just Alexis who was treated to a "secret celebrity Libby Du" She got a wig, a cool microphone, a very special guitar makeup compact, a neat backpack, and she got to pick 5 thing off the "pick a mix" wall. It was lots of fun, but I think next time we would go without the wig and just get our hair done up.

I got a job...I will be as of 9-11-07 an employee of Del Taco. I should be working a few hours a day while Alexis is in school. We shall see how this goes. The link to Del Taco is over to the left. I will let you know how it goes.

I know, I know.... nothing for so long now I can't stop. After Dreams and Wings (see below) we stopped off at IKEA. They were doing free face painting. Isn't she just the cutest? The painters were awesome. They were so fast and did such a great job on everyone. I did get their card and do know what they charge if anyone needs a good face painter.

Here are a few pictures from our Dreams and Wings adventure Alexis had today (8-11-07). Alexis and daddy got to fly in a plane where the pilot let her steer the plane and put down the landing gear. After her plane ride Alexis and daddy took a ride in a hot air balloon. It was loud but a lot of fun.
For those who don't what Dreams and Wings is, it is a program where pilots donate their plane and time to take special needs kids for the ride of their life. We participate in the program through UMDM which stands for University of Michigan Dance Marathon. UMDM is one of the largest student-run non-profit organizations on the University of Michigan’s campus. Conducting events throughout the year, UMDM strives to raise both monetary support and awareness for the needs of pediatric rehabilitation programs. The creative and interactive therapies we provide through the allocation of funds to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan and Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan enrich the lives of children in our community.

Ok, so here we go. I am going to try and keep everyone updated on what is going on here in our neck of the woods.

Lets start with our latest family photos. This was taken a few weeks ago when Kristen was here in Michigan.

FYI Kristen now has her permit and is eager to drive....look out !!
